Job Description

Introduction

Games Global (Partner ) has generously supported the establishment of an iSchoolAfrica Coding and Robotics Centre at Alencon Primary School in Chatsworth. KZN. The centre aims to expand access to digital education and skills. The Centre will provide a safe and uplifting environment for teachers, youth and community members to come to be inspired, learn, create and succeed.

 

Role Purpose

The Coding and Robotics Centre Co-ordinator will oversee the effective planning, implementation, and management of the Centre at Alencon Primary. The role ensures high-quality learner engagement, educator support, operational efficiency, programme management and partnership / community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Coordination & Delivery

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of Coding and Robotics Centre.
  • Manage centre budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure structured implementation of coding, robotics, STEM and digital skills programmes across grades. Support scheduling, timetables, learner grouping, and programme rollout.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, learner activities, and special projects (hackathons, competitions, showcases).

2. Educator Support

  •  Provide ongoing technical and pedagogical support to educators. Assist with capacity-building, training and mentorship.
  • Support educators to confidently deliver coding and robotics content independently.

3. Technology, Equipment & Learning Resources Management

  • Oversee management, maintenance, and security of devices and robotics kits.
  •  Ensure centres remain fully functional, updated and well-resourced.
  •  Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate repairs/service needs.

4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Collect, manage, and analyse programme data (attendance, participation, learning progress, outcomes).
  • Prepare regular reports for internal monitoring, partners and funders.
  • Support communication, success stories, and visibility of programme impact.

5. School support and relationship

  • Build strong relationships with school leadership, provincial education structures, educators and school community
  • Represent iSchoolAfrica in meetings, presentations, and programme events.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies including codes of conduct, child protection,safety, and security protocols. 

6. Acting as a Resource Centre to the Broader Community

  • Position the Coding and Robotics Centre as a hub for innovation, digital literacy, and technology empowerment within the broader community.
  • Facilitate access to resources, learning materials, mentorship and capacity-building opportunities for neighbouring schools, youth organisations, community partners and education stakeholders.
  • Plan and implement initiatives including community workshops, open days, career exposure sessions and coding/robotics awareness campaigns to inspire broader participation in STEM and digital skills.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of coding, robotics, STEM education and digital learning environments.
  • Experience working with schools, learners and educators.
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Passion for youth development, innovation and education transformation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree/diploma in Education, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Experience in coding, robotics, ICT in education, or STEM programme implementation.
  • Experience training educators or working as a facilitator advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Apple products preferred.
