Core Group, the exclusive distributor of Apple products in Southern Africa and home to iStore, is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our Human Resources team.

This role is responsible for the accurate and efficient administration of multiple payrolls across our retail and corporate environment, ensuring employees across our national iStore footprint are paid accurately and on time. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining payroll integrity, compliance, and supporting payroll-related queries in a fast-paced retail business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer multiple payrolls for retail stores, support office, and associated business units

  • Process payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, salary changes, incentives, overtime, and deductions

  • Ensure accurate monthly payroll processing in line with payroll calendars and internal controls

  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with South African payroll legislation (PAYE, UIF, SDL)

  • Process statutory submissions and assist with SARS reconciliations and reporting

  • Manage payroll-related queries from employees, store management, human resources and job management. 

  • Administer employee benefits, leave balances, and payroll adjustments

  • Support audits and maintain proper payroll documentation and reporting

  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance to ensure data accuracy across employee systems

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ payroll administration experience, preferably in a retail or multi-site environment

  • Experience managing large or multiple payrolls

  • Strong understanding of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements

  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Sage 300)

  • High attention to detail with strong numerical and reconciliation skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
